All eggs sold in Canada are produced domestically due to Canada’s supply management system for eggs. This system ensures that Canadian farmers produce enough eggs to meet domestic demand while limiting imports through tariffs.
However, processed foods containing eggs, such as baked goods, mayonnaise, and pasta, may contain imported egg ingredients. These imports are limited but can enter Canada under trade agreements like CUSMA or through special import quotas.
If you’re buying carton eggs in grocery stores, they’re Canadian. But for egg-based processed foods, the ingredients may come from outside Canada.
